From the Newspaper Art mini lesson I learned that you can pretty much make anything you want out of newspaper and call it art. I really liked the concept of it, but for my piece I don't think it was very successful. For next time I am going to try to establish a more creative idea.
I combined an eye and jellyfish together because I have always enjoyed drawing or making eyes and I really love jellyfish. I saw a drawing on Pinterest of crying eyes and in the tears there was fish coming out as well and I thought it was a really cool idea so I tried to do something similar, but with jellyfish.
I picked to use watercolors because I thought it went really well with my idea. I also really enjoy messing around with watercolors. I think its really fun!! If i was to change something about my piece I would probably change the background. I really liked how it made the eye color pop, but I think it would have been cool to do some even darker shades of blues in some spots with the wet-on-wet. I think the most successful thing about my piece was the jellyfish. I liked how the actual jelly part came out and I'm glad i added some color to the tentacles. The difference between getting inspiration from a piece and and stealing an idea is that when you steal an idea you are almost exactly copying what someone else has done. When you get inspiration from somebody you are using their idea to make your own idea.
Yes, it is okay to use part of an idea or part of another picture in your piece if you change something or give credit to the original source. As long as you are not just exactly copying another persons work, it is okay to use their ideas to create something of your own. I Developed My Art Making Skills: In this project I was able to work with pen techniques. It helped me to practice and become familiar with using pen. I was able to practice the skills of cross-hatching and hatching during this project and it really helped me to become better using pen and allowed me to realize how much I like to do my art in pen.
Of the mini lessons I think the hardest one was the expressive furniture. I think it was hard for me because I really didn't like it at all. I had trouble drawing my chair the right size and did a terrible job shading it. The easiest for me was the Forced Perspective. I really enjoyed doing it and liked that I had to think and be creative to come up with something.
https://twitter.com/sarahbond22?lang=en I really enjoyed this assignment! It was really fun going around and being able to be creative and come up with some cool ideas. I like how this project really made you have to think to get a good picture and that it helped to better understand perspective. There isn't really anything I would change about the project, overall, I really liked it!
