The painting mini project that we had to do was probably the mini lesson that helped me the most for the major project that I was about to have to do. We were given a little piece of paper and then a piece of paper and we just had to replicate it. It had to be EXACT. Just practicing with mixing colors and trying to get the exact color that was used in the little picture we were given really helped. Also using different brush techniques and blending colors on the painting helped me to be able to do what I needed to on my final project. Not only was this project extremely helpful in allowing me to learn to use acrylic paint better, it was also a really cute and fun idea. I eventually figured out that mine was a piece of a shell, but I just thought that it was a whole painting. In the end when everyone finished we were supposed to find people with rest of our parts of the painting (so obviously i then found out it was only a fraction of a whole painting) and then put them together to complete the whole painting. This actually really helped too. I liked seeing what the other people who had the other parts of my painting did and how they blended there colors on the paper. It allowed me to see what I maybe did wrong and what i should do differently.
This was our very first mini-assignment and it was really helpful to getting me back into the art groove. We had to make two value scales using 6B and HB pencils. Then we had to pick out a few three dimensional shapes and shade and add value to them. This mini lesson was great for practicing skills for the perspective project that we had to do. I was able to practice and develop better shading skills and learned about using a light source and knowing where to put it and how to shade around it. I defiantly think this was very useful. I do wish, though, that we could maybe do a little mini-project with this kind of similar to the one we did for painting (except without the part where we a drawing pieces of a painting or drawing). I think it was helpful, but I maybe would have gotten more out if it if I was assigned to draw an object on a smaller piece of paper.
